Saturday December 19th 2011 The BHS Hockey Team retired the jerseys of two former players who were taken from this life too soon. Doug Newby & Michael Gustafson.
Doug was always #7 - every jersey/email/love letter/page - he even signed the wall at my parents old house #7 -
The first hockey game I ever watched Doug play in was our Sophomore year of high school during Spring League. We had been dating just a few weeks. I sat in the stands at the Berkley ice arena wearing his St Marys Letter jacket and cheered him on. No one knew who this 'new kid' was but he was my boyfriend and he scored 3 goals that game. Just a nice memory that this ceremony brought up from my past. Wish I could have been there.
